Walmart Will Sell Low-Price Insulin

Walmart’s current line of diabetes-management products, ReliOn, already includes a low-price version of insulin, but this is an older version that some medical experts say is less effective than newer versions of insulin known as analogs. The rising price of this kind of insulin has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers in the past, and now Walmart is stepping up with its own private-label version of analog insulin, which will sell for about $73 a vial.

With the move, Walmart will bring its longtime focus on “everyday low price” to a drug that is a medical necessity for a growing number of Americans.
