Walgreens has launched a new kind of credit card program, one that will reward customers for health and wellness spending even outside a Walgreens store. The program involves two cards, both issued by Synchrony Bank: the myWalgreens Mastercard and the myWalgreens credit card. With the first, consumers can earn up to 3% Walgreens Cash rewards on certain groceries and health-related spending outside Walgreens. Even visits to healthcare providers are rewarded. With the second, customers can earn up to 10% Walgreens Cash rewards on Walgreens products. According to a Walgreens VP, this program aims to reward consumers for making healthy choices – and it won’t be the last of the retailer’s forays into financial services.
“Today’s launch of the myWalgreens Credit Card is just the beginning in the evolution and expansion of our financial services offerings,” Maria Smith, vice president of payments and financial services at Walgreens, said in a statement.
