September 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am CDTFree
Ian is a founder of Sage Tree, now a company within Advantage Solutions Digital Commerce division. For nine years he and his business partner built Sage Tree into a premier full service national ecommerce agency and then sold Sage Tree to Advantage Solutions in 2016. Since then he has led Canopy, The Data Council, and now Brand Connections, three tech companies in the ecomm space. Brand Connections is a digital agency focused on contactless commerce and sampling. He also is in charge of M&A efforts for the Digital Commerce group and is constantly seeking to find the best companies that support the goals of the group. Prior to starting Sage Tree, he was Vice President of Global Sales for Powermate, a global manufacturer of power equipment. He has also held positions as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of International Business Development. He has a proven record of achieving year-over-year performance in each of his positions.
As an experienced technology executive, Ian understands firsthand the challenges faced in today’s complex marketplace: Third party seller issues, intense pricing pressures, and strategies to build marketshare within the ecommerce space. Ian leverages his breadth of retail experience to help clients build omni-channel organizations for a sustainable competitive advantage.
Ian’s experience includes developing and managing businesses for ecommerce, mass, club, distributor, dealer, electrical wholesale and hardware. He has successfully placed product lines at Big Box retailers including Amazon, Kroger, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Costco and Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, Wayfair, Target, Albertsons and more.
A graduate of the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado, Ian also holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He served for seven years on the Board of Directors of the Big City Mountaineers, a Denver-based nonprofit that provides wilderness experiences for urban youths.
