Description

Jack Shannon is the Co-Founder and CEO of Recess, a retail media–adjacent platform focused on helping retailers unlock incremental media revenue beyond the store through measurable, experiential engagement.

With more than 15 years of experience building and scaling marketing technology and activation platforms, Jack has led Recess in reimagining how real-world experiences can function as a true media product—one that complements Retail Media Networks by extending reach into everyday community environments while maintaining accountability to retail outcomes.

Under Jack’s leadership, Recess has pioneered a data-driven approach to offsite sampling that connects real-world exposure to shopper behavior, first-party data, and verified sales impact. His work is grounded in a core belief that the next phase of retail media growth will come not from reallocating existing shopper budgets, but from creating new, incremental SKUs capable of attracting national brand dollars traditionally spent outside retail media.

Jack works closely with retailers, brands, and ecosystem partners to ensure experiential programs operate at scale without adding operational burden, while delivering standardized measurement that supports ROI scrutiny and full-funnel performance. Through this lens, he continues to position Recess at the intersection of experiential marketing, retail media, and data-driven commerce—helping the industry evolve beyond the four walls of the store.
