Best Buy CEO Corie Barry referenced the nesting phenomenon recently and said she believed it would not end with the pandemic. Accordingly, her company will begin listing products such as outdoor grills and patio furniture on its website. Best Buy thinks consumers will continue to spend on their homes post-pandemic, and it wants to be selling what its customers are looking for. But while the home improvement trend may be here to stay, consumers are sick of quarantine, and they are ready to travel. Best Buy is planning on offering luggage to meet the anticipated spike in demand as well.
With the move, Best Buy joins other retailers breaking into new categories and expanding the online assortment to capture more of consumers’ attention and dollars.
