Join Brand Elverston as he hosts Chris Hansen, for a conversation about employee and shopper safety.

Chris is president of Snug Harbor Risk Consulting and is currently leading workshops in risk management, insurance, workers’ compensation and employment practice liability for RIMS, the Risk & Insurance Management Society.

Prior to his retirement from corporate life in 2020, Chris was Vice President of Risk Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Indirect Procurement for Rite Aid Corporation in Camp Hill, PA, where he led the teams responsible for all risk finance and risk control functions including insurance placement, self-administered casualty claims, and the safety and environmental compliance programs.  In addition, he coordinated the Company’s environmental social and governance program, and led the group responsible for the negotiation and contracting of all corporate goods and services.

Before Rite Aid, Chris was Sr. Director of Safety for Walmart, where he led the team responsible for the risk control and OSHA compliance programs for their US retail operations.

Prior to joining Walmart, Chris was Assistant Vice president of Risk Management at Pathmark Stores, Inc., Carteret, NJ, where he led their risk finance, risk control and regulatory compliance programs including self-insured, self-administered workers’ compensation and general liability claims.

Chris graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and holds Associate in Risk Management designation from the Insurance Institute of America.

Brand has over 25 years of experience in the retail asset protection/risk mitigation business channel.

After nearly a dozen years as a field artillery officer in the U.S. Army, Brand began his retail career with Walmart’s then Loss Prevention division in 1995, retiring in 2017 to impact the overall industry more effectively, and more broadly.

Brand’s undeniable passions are in the emerging technology scope, not legacy solutions, designed to align innovative risk mitigation measures more effectively with emerging retail business pursuits.
